Objective: Through the study to evaluate the effects of the natural medicine E-pigallocatechin Gallate(EGCG) on demineralize dentine by remineralization, and seek the laboratory evidence for clinical application of natural drug EGCG. Methods:A total of 30 extracted teeth for orthodontic reason were uniformly grinded the surface enamel and exposed the dentine window area, then the teeth were randomly divided into three groups: EGCG group, Ca(OH)2 group and artificial saliva group. Each one were immersed into lactic acid gel to prepare artificial dentine caries and then each group of them respectively immersed into their medicine completely. Af-ter treatments, the morphological structure of dentine surface was observed by SEM and the data of hardness were mesured by MH-5 durometer. Result: Statistically significant differences between the EGCG group and Ca(OH)2 group(P<0.05), d-ifferences between the two groups(EGCG and Ca(OH)2) and artificial saliva group were statistically significant(P<0.05). The results of SEM observation indicated t h-at EGCG group and Ca(OH) 2 group dentine surface have a lot of sediments, a rt-ificial saliva group sediments is less and the surface were uneven. Conclusion: N-atural drug EGCG can improve the surface hardness of demineralize dentine, pro m-ote the dentinal tubule close and the deposition of dentin surface mineralizer. Na tur-al drug EGCG can inhibit demineralization of dentine, it is worth to further ex plo-ration.
