Objective:Based on preliminary analysis and research clinical and pathological parameters that may affect the non-sentinel lymph node (NSLN) metastasis in breast cancer, to investigate the risk factors for NSLN metastasis in breast cancer patients with positive sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) results. Methods:The clinical and pathological datas of 268 breast cancer patients with positive SLNB results admitted from July 2009 to August 2014 at the affiliated tumor hospital of Xinjiang Medical University were collected. The relations of the clinical and pathologic factors with NSLN metastasis were determined by univariate and multivariate Logistic regression analysis. Results:The metastatic NSLN was identified in 128 of the 268 patients with positive sentinel lymph node (SLN) (47.8%). Univariate analysis showed that histological grade, primary tumor diameter, HER-2, vessel invasion, number of positive SLNs, number of negative SLNs, rate of SLN metastases, number of SLN of detection, and maximal diameter of the SLN metastases were related to NSLN metastasis (all P<0.05). Multivariate Logistic regression analysis identified that primary tumor diameter (OR=1.371,95%CI 0.977~1.923), vessel invasion (OR=2.515,95%CI 1.204~5.256), rate of SLN metastases (OR=1.791,95%CI 0.854~3.756), and maximal diameter of the SLN metastases (OR=4.599,95%CI 2.386-8.863) were independent risk factors for NSLN metastasis(all P<0.05). Conclusion: Primary tumor diameter, vessel invasion, rate of SLN metastases, and maximal diameter of the SLN metastasescan be used as independent variables to predict NSLN metastasis in breast cancer patients.
