Objectives: The standardized infant feeding difficulty Rating Scale for Children’s Hospital of Hunan Province was used, and the 6 months to 3 year-old children’s health outpatient infant feeding conditions were assessed, and the Hunan infant feeding difficulties epidemiological data are gotten, and the causes of the problem are found, and the prevention, assessment and treatment strategies for infant feeding difficulties are provided. Methods: First, epidemiological situation of Hunan Children’s Hospital Child Health Division in 6 months to 3 year-old infants. Applying the Montreal children hospital feeding scale Chinese version to assess the situation to determine whether the feeding difficulties and feeding difficulty level. Then we analyze the cause of feeding difficulties. Applying our self-designed survey scale feeding difficulties, the possible factors feeding difficulties are analyzed, and the cause of feeding difficulties is found, the prevention and treatment strategies are provided. Results: 1) 546 copies met the inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria. About the 546 infants, men accounted for 58%(317 people), women accounted for 42%(229 people). Of the feeding difficulties, males accounted for 40.8%(62 people), women accounted for 59.2%(41 people), there is no significant difference between the gender and feeding difficulty(P = 0.296). The feeding incidence is 19%(103 people), of which mild accounted for 72%(74 people), moderate 18%(17 people), and severe accounted of 11%(11 people); Among the enrolled infants, age of 6 months to 1 year old, 1 year to 2 years, 2 to 3 years takes a close proportion. And with the growth of age, are the higher the incidence of feeding difficulties. The age of 2 to 3 years takes the highest incidence of feeding difficulties and severe feeding difficulties in the main. 2) Birth situation: preterm children can increase the incidence of feeding difficulties significant, and preterm children may affect the feeding difficulty`s composition ratio. Birth asphyxia also increase the infant feeding difficulties incidence, and birth asphyxia may affect the degree of feeding difficulty configuration. Having digestive diseases at birth and Having sucking problems do nothing to feeding difficulties, and have no effect on the degree of feeding difficulty configuration。 3) The features of the main feeder: Breastfeeding can reduce the incidence of feeding difficulties, and may affect the composition ratio of the degree of difficulty feeding, so breastfeeding is a protective factor. Mother anxiety during pregnancy, the one-child parents is the main feeder and the main feeder`s educational level do nothing to feeding difficulties, and have no effect on the degree of feeding difficulty configuration. 4) Feeding skill: The main feeders grasp the degree of feeding skills, and whether the eye contact during feeding, which do nothing to feeding difficulties, and have no effect on the degree of feeding difficulty configuration. Extend the feeding time can increase the incidence of feeding difficulties, and can affect the composition ratio also. 5) Feeding environment: Family income and nursery have no significant relationship with the occurrence of feeding difficulties, Eating environment is noisy and tense family relations can make feeding difficulties incidence increased significantly. Infants are willing to try new things can reduce the incidence of feeding difficulties and can affect the composition of the degree of feeding difficulty. Conclusions: 1) The incidence of feeding difficulty is 19%, and the peak incidence in infants is age of 2 years to 3 years.2) Premature children, birth asphyxia, family atmosphere tense, prolonged feeding time, put in less effort, the reasons for the delay adding complementary feeding and eating noisy can increase the incidence of feeding difficulties.3) Breastfeeding, the main feeders are parents, and infants who are willing to try new things, which are protective factors to keep out of feeding difficulties.
