Study On Improving The Quality Standard Of Radix Hedysari And Radix Hedysari Oral Liquid

Radix Hedysari is the dried roots of Hedysarum polybotrys for polybotrys. The first report was recorded under Astragalus item of "Shen Nong’s Herbal Classic" and listed as the best. Radix Hedysari has the same long application history as Astragalus. There is little difference between Radix Hedysari and Radix Astragalus. Ancient Herbal scientists knew their difference, but cannot divide from the variety and name, so Radix Hedysari was collected and used as Astragalus membranaceus. Radix Hedysari has a wide range of pharmacological activity and one of the major herbs in Gansu, but the quality indicators of existing standards cannot fully control the quality of Radix Hedysari. The paper improved the quality standards of Radix Hedysari basing on the original standard.The main contents of this paper included the following:1.To establish the quantitative method of calycosin-7-O-β-D-glucoside,4’.5.7-Trihydroxyisoflavone, formononetin and medicarpin in Radix Hedysari by high-performance liquid chromatography.2. Content of polysaccharides was determined in Radix Hedysari and Radix Hedysari Oral liquid by Sulfuric acid-Phenol Method.3.The TLC qualitative identification of Radix Hedysari Oral liquid was added.4.The microscopic and TLC identification methods of Radix Hedysari were revised.5.Some check items were increased in the herbs and processing product of Radix Hedysari including harmful heavy metals, organic pesticides and and insoluble ash.A accurate, simple and reliable method was developed and validated for simultaneous quantification of calycosin-7-O-β-D-glucoside,4’,5,7-Trihydroxyisoflavone, formononetin and medicarpin in Radix Hedysari. The current quality standard of Radix Hedysari was revised. The paper will provide a theoretical basis for the quality control of Radix Hedysari and Hedysari Oral liquid.
