Mulberry bark is the dry root bark of Morus alba Morus alba L., with benefits of purging lung and relieving asthma and water swelling. it is commonly used as treat the lung heat cough, edema puffiness oliguria, edema, face skin treatment. Modern research has shown, white mulberry root bark extraction has some fuctions, such as antioxidant, hypoglycemic, diuretic and inhibition of protein sugar intensification. The flavonoids of cortex:mori is the main active ingredient. Morus flavonoids in plants are connected to a prenylated, current studies show that, compounds with isopentenyl structure showed strong antitumor effect, hypolipidemic, hypoglycemic effect. In1980, Japanese scholar discovered a novel compound fat soluble components from Mulberry (Morus alba L.), namely Diels-Alder adduct.The Diels-Alder adduct is composed of chalcone and its derivatives and compounds with phenyl [4+2] cycloaddition products obtained from the reaction of addition products, all of them has still own prenylated flavonoids structure, the fat soluble part has been isolated and gotten some prenylated flavonoids and stilbenes. In addition, the water soluble fraction which has been isolated from Morus alba has polyhydroxy alkaloids and they have obvious hypoglycemic activity, the best activity of polyhydroxylated alkaloids is1-deoxynojirimycin. Research shows that, the prenylated flavonoids have many biological activities, such as cytotoxic activity, antiplatelet activity, inhibitory activity of peanut four acid5-cyclooxygenase, lipoxygenase activity, cathepsin K and5a-reductase, and anti-inflammatory, anti malaria, anti bacteria, anti lipid peroxidation and hepatoprotective activities. Diels-Alder type adducts have anti hypertension, anti microbial, antitumor, antiviral, lowering blood sugar, inhibit platelet aggregation and antioxidant The research group has been committed to the mulberry bark active ingredient, has already isolated the water soluble part and a fat soluble effective part from Mulberry (Morus alba L.). Through pharmacological experiments confirmed that, these two parts have obvious hypoglycemic activity, fat soluble effective parts for Diels-Alder type a mixture of adducts, prenylated flavonoids and stilbenes three components. The purpose of the study was isolated and enriched Diels-Alder adducts and prenylated flavonoids effective parts from fat soluble part of the white mulberry, and by pharmacological screening mulberry hypoglycemic lipid-lowering effect site, provide some data for the development of hypoglycemic.Part I:Literature reviewConcludes and summarizes the research progress of effective components, pharmacological action of mulberry bark in domestic and foreign, and pathogenic mechanism and the treatment of type2diabetes.Part II:Experimental studies1.
