Objective:Followed by routine Sling Exercise Therapy (SET), Pilates Exercise Therapy was usedfor patients with chronic low back to observe whether or not it would ease one’s pain, dysfunction, and defect of sports situational motivation, which will provide the evidence forthe treatment and rehabilitation of chronic pain with low back.Methods:30patients with chronic pain of low back were randomly divided into two groups:treatment and control,15each one. Accompanied with SET therapy, all patients wereprovided with Pilates exercise therapy, including three parts: the basic action, stretch, andrelax action.After4weeks, the patients of two groups were valued with VAS score, ODI score andRoland-Morris score, and the patients of test group were analyzed with the Sport SituationalMotivation Scale (SSIMS).Results:1) After treatment, there was a significant difference of VAS score both in the two groups(P<0.01), but no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05). It showed that thetwo kinds of therapy had a same effect on patient’s pain.2) After treatment, there was a significant difference of the patient’s own Roland-Morrisscore both in the two groups (P<0.01), also between the two groups (P<0.05). It showed thatthe Pilates exercise therapy had a better effect on dysfunction of lumbar vertebrae than singleSET suspension did.3) After treatment, there was a significant difference of every ODI score both in the two groups (P<0.01), also between the two groups (P<0.01). It showed that the Pilates exercisetherapy had a better effect on lumbar pain and dysfunction than single SET suspension did.4) After treatment, the correlation analysis of sports situational motivation and its fourdimensions scores showed that there was a significant correlation between the internalmotivation and lack of motivation at0.05level, also between the principle of externalizationand movement situation at the0.01level.Conclusions:Both Pilates exercise intervention and single SET in patients with chronic low back pain, waist pain (VAS) lost may ease and improve lumbar pain and dysfunction of lumbar vertebrae.Co-therapy of Pilates exercise intervention and SET suspension had a better effect than singleSET, especially for patients’ lifting, walking and standing movements function. In addition, there was a positive correlation between the principle of externalization and sports situationalmotivation during the period of Pilates exercise.
