| Objective: Ximen point was selected using the unique diagnostic methodformulated by my teacher, Zhang ke zhen0T.T0To confirm the treatment effectivenessof as well as formulate a simple, safe, and speedy clinical treatment protocol using theXimen (PC4) point through observing its clinical effectiveness in treating chronicsuperficial gastritis. Analyze the working mechanism of performing acupuncture atthe Ximen point by monitoring and comparing the change in temperature detectedusing infrared equipment on the gastric region, so as to demonstrate whether or notevidence may be provided for a simple, speedy, non-invasive supplemental diagnosticand treatment method for chronic superficial gastritis or gastric disorders and providean index for prevention and early detection of such potential diseases. Analyze andunderstand the working mechanism of needling Ximen using theories of therelationship between the theories of Zhangkezhen,Heart and Stomach, as well as thechange in temperature as an indication of the circulation in the region, with the goal ofproviding basis for clinical acupuncture treatments for and understanding of chronicsuperficial gastritis. Methods: After the standards were set,70patients were randomly divided intothe treatment group and control group, with35in each. Certain clinical data regardingthese patients must retain comparability; factors such as age, gender, and diseaseprogression may not have significant statistical differences. Data collected regardingclinical symptoms and the effectiveness of clinical treatment was compared andtreated statistically, and the conclusion was reached based on these results.Results:1. Comparison of total effectiveness: effective rate for the treatment group was97.14%, for control group was91.52%, using the χ2test, P>0.05, which indicatedthat there was no significant difference between the treatment and control groupsstatistically. This showed that there was no obvious difference in the use of Ximenclinically to treat chronic superficial gastritis, as compared to needling at Neiguan (PC6), Zhongwan (CV12), and Zusanli (ST36), results were similarly positive.2. Comparison of symptoms rating: experiment results showed that there wereimprovements in both groups of patients. The rating before and after treatment, by the t test, P>0.05, indicating that there was no significant statistical difference betweenthe degree of improvement of patients’clinical symptoms related to chronicsuperficial gastritis.3. Comparison of infrared imagery on gastric region: the temperature of both thetreatment group and control groups rose. The temperature difference in the two groupsbefore and after treatment, by the t test, P>0.05, indicating that there was nosignificant statistical difference between the temperatures of the two groups, and thatthe treatment effectiveness was similar.Conclusion:1. Needling Ximen is as effective for chronic superficial gastritis as needlingNeiguan, Zhongwan, and Zusanli. Needling all these points can raise the temperatureof the stomach region. Needling Ximen, as compared to needling Neiguan, Zhongwan, and Zusanli, requires less points and is safer and more convenient, therefore is moresuitable for clinical use.2. Patients with chronic superficial gastritis generally have lower temperaturearound the stomach area, after treatment, the temperature rose, confirmingacupuncture’s regulating effects on circulation around the stomach. This providesmore ways to prevent and test for gastric disorders. Through the subsequent validationexperiment, also can use infrared thermal image instrument as the instrument ofdisease diagnosis and prevention. |
