Galectin-7is a kind of protein which could selectively recognizecarbohydrate structures and with them non-covalent. It widely exists infrom of lower mammals to those of higher one. It plays a very importantrole in the organization of growth regulation, cell adhesion, apoptosis andimmune response and other biological functions.This research aims to study galectin-7in human renal transplantrejection reaction, the relationship between meaning and galectin-7andhuman renal allograft rejection, and observe its expression in renal tissuedistribution. We collected65cases in the309th Hospital of PLA forallograft renal transplantation patients in December2011to October2013.According to the clinical and biochemical indexes, HE staining、Massstaining (renal biopsy pathological Banff2005standard), the subjects weredivided into acute rejection group and chronic rejection group. Acuterejection group consists of34cases, including16of male and18of female,with the age of22-57, mean age (43±16.3). Chronic rejection constitutes31cases, including17of male and14of female, with the age of27-54,mean age (45±17.8). Besides selecting30cases of healthy donors ashealthy control group, including18of male and12of female, with the ageof29-37, mean age (34±13.1). The results showed in the normal controlgroup under light microscope, galectin-7expressed in the renal tubularlumen and arterial smooth muscle and no expression of galectin-7in theother part. The acute rejection group under light microscope glomerularmatrix proliferation, and the renal tubular can be found inflammatorychanges, no atrophy of the renal tubule, the infiltration of lymphocytes in the part of renal interstitial, the renal tubular lumen expressed galectin-7.The chronic rejection group under light microscope glomerular mesangialproliferation, renal interstitial stromal fibrosis, with lymphocytes andmononuclear cell infiltration; Tubular atrophy, expression in proximaltubule epithelial cells visible higher galectin-7, there was no expression inother parts of the body. The results of Western Blot: In the normal controlgroup, the gray value is of (0.32±0.15), in the acute rejection group, thegray value of (0.95±0.17), in the chronic rejection group, the gray value of(1.32±0.19), By using SPSS20.0software for statistical analysis, theprocessing of data by using one-way ANOVA, the correlation analysisbetween each index respectively. The acute rejection group than that in thenormal group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05), Thechronic rejection group than that in the normal group, the difference wasstatistically significant (P<0.05), chronic rejection group than in acuterejection group, the difference was more statistically significant (P<0.05). The study concluded that galectin-7played a role in the rejection reactionafter renal transplantation, and it could be used as a graft reaction ofmonitoring indicators, and might be a potential target for the treatment oftransplant rejection.
