Kalimeris indica(L.) Sch-Bip is the grass-roots perennial herb of Asteraceae Compositae with high nutritional value and medicinal value, which is named medicinal and edible plants. On the basis of the Kalimeris indica(L.) Sch-Bip nutritional value, chemical composition and biological functions, the separation and purification route was established, and the lipid-lowering mechanism of the active components was further studied, which provided the theoretical basis for the pharmacological effects of Kalimeris indica(L.) Sch-Bip.Macroporous resin separation technology was used to study on the active components of Kalimeris indica(L.) Sch-Bip. On comparing the adsorption and desorption performance of15kinds of macroporous adsorbent resin by static adsorption test,2kinds of resin HPD100and AB-8were picked out. Through the static optimization of the adsorption kinetics and isothermal adsorption curves, AB-8macroporous adsorbent resin was selected for its excellent performance. Two important components were obtained through the AB-8resin column chromatography separation:20%ethanol elution in flavonoids (62.7%), and that60%ethanol elution in triterpenoids (58.5%).The lipid peroxidation inhibitory activity of the fraction from Kalimeris indica(L.) Sch-Bip in vitro was measured. The results showed that both components had inhibitory effect on lipid peroxidation in mouse heart, liver, kidney and brain tissues in vitro, especially on the liver. On the basis of the lipid peroxidation inhibitory activity in vitro, Lower blood lipid activity of fractions from Kalimeris indica(L.)Sch-Bip were further investigated in high-fat diet mouse models for30days. The results showed that the blood lipid levels of mice fed with S, F1, F3decreased significantly in comparison to model mice, such as, TC, TG, LDL-C, HDL-C level, especially, TG level. The HL and LPL activity fed with Kalimeris indica(L.) Sch-Bip components significantly increased than the model mice. Among them, the HL and LPL activity fed with triterpenoids increased more significantly than others. On the other hand, the HMG-CoA and ACAT activity of mice, fed with Kalimeris indica(L.) Sch-Bip components decreased of significantly than the hyperlipidemia model mice, and the cholesterol7a-hydroxylase activity increased significantly, except the low-dose group F. Comparing to the hyperlipidemia model mice, the triterpenoids was the most significant. The antioxidant enzyme activities were measured. The SOD and GSH-PX activities of mice fed with Kalimeris indica(L.) Sch-Bip components increased in liver and serum, and the MDA level decreased compared to hyperlipidemia model mice. The results showed that the triterpenoid compounds were effective to improve the oxidant resistance level of hyperlipidemia mice, and regulating blood lipid metabolism. The sterol and bile acids level in mice fecal could suggestted the metabolisem of cholesterol. Comparing to the hyperlipidemia model mice, fed with triterpenoids could excreted more sterols and bile acids than other groups, which effectively regulated the lipid balance.HE pathological results showed that the hyperlipidemia model mice had serious liver steatosis, especially the lipid deposition. Each Kalimeris indica(L.) Sch-Bip component is able to prevent the hyperlipidemia or atheroselerosis from befelling or developing. The mice fed with triterpenoids were reduced the fat and cholesterol deposition in the liver more significantly than other groups comparing to hyperlipidemia model mice.
