Objective: Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women worldwide, with a climing morbidity in the past 10 years.Along with the significant advances in surgical techniques and medical treatment, more and more hospitals in both occident and our country had used sentinel lymph node biopsy(SLNB) instead of axillary lymph node dissenction(ALND) gradually. The aim of this article is to discuss the comparison on the tracing effect between the use of methylene blue and carbon nanoparticle suspension injection. Methods:From June 2013 to December 2014, at the breast surgery of the secondhospital affiliated to dalian medical university 86 early-metaphase breast cancer patients which were divided into two groups randomly were selected in our study.0.4ml to 0.6ml of carbon nanoparticle suspension injections or methylene blue were injected respectively into the mammary glands at 4 to 6 points around the areola 30 min before the breast cancer surgery. The lymph nodes were named SLN and non-SLN according their locations relative to the areola. Both of the sentinel lymph node and the axillary lymph node were sent to do the pathological examination. In accordance with the American Louisville university SLNB standard. The spss 17.0 was used to analysis, The Pearson χ2 test was used to compare the qualitative data, while the T test was used to compare the quantitative data. The results were identified statistical significance when p<0.05.Results: The detection rate of CNP was 93.5%(43/46). The accuracy rate was 89.1%(41/46),the false negative and sensitivity rates were 9.5%(2/21) and 90.5%(19/21),the false positive rate was 0,respectively.The detection rate of methylene blue was 77.5%(31/40).The accuracy rate was 75.0%(30/40),the false negative and sensitivety rates were 6.7% and 93.3%,the false positive rate was 0,respectively.The detection rate of CNP was apparently higher than ALN.(p<0.05), however, there was no statistical significance in the difference of the accuracy rate, false negateve and sensitivity rate. Conclusion: Compared with methylene blue, carbon nanoparticle suspension injections into the mammary gland in SLNB has a more stabilized tracing effect, clearer and longer time for staining black the lymph node. The detection rate of carbon nanoparticle was apparently higher than methylene blue(p < 0.05). Compared with the methylene blue, our study shows that CNP possesses such advantage as high operability in sentinel lymph node biopsy of the breast cancer.
