Objective: Explore the clinical efficacy of tranexamic acid with autologous blood transfusion in patients after total knee arhtroplasty. Methods: From May 2012 to December 2014, 60 patients were treated in Shandong hospital of CTM. We adopted randomized, singleblinded, controlled method. One was experimental group(tranexamic acid applicated with autologous blood transfusion), the other was control group(autologous blood transfusion applicated alone). We recorded the date from two groups and calculated the total blood loss and hidden blood loss, and then we analysed the data. Results: The autologous blood amount, volume of drained blood, hidden blood loss three days after operation, the allogeneic blood transfusion amount, cases of blood transfusion after operation and total allogeneic blood transfusion amount of patients from experimental group was lower than that of patients from control group, and the difference was significant(P<0.05). The levels of RBC, Hb, Hct three days after operation of patients from experimental group was higher than that of patients from control group, and the difference was significant(P<0.05). No DVT was found after operation in both groups. There was no significant difference between other related complications of two groups. Conclusion: Tranexamic acid with autologous blood transfusion could significantly decrease blood loss and allogeneic blood transfusion amount. There was no risk of DVT and other related complications.
