Magnetic resonance imaging interventional microwave ablation therapy of breast is one of the most important minimally invasive treatment, because it has many advantages such as rapid recovery and less trauma. So, it is becoming an effective means of treating breast cancer. During the minimally invasive therapy, it is necessary to solve the problem of the heat dose applied to the target tissue and the accuracy of the tissue’s temperature. So, we must monitor the procedure of the minimally invasive treatment to improve the success of the surgery.During the MR guided microwave ablation procedure of breast, the temperature can be calculated accurately by MR temperature imaging methods. Although there have been a variety of temperature imaging methods among several decades at home and abroad, but we must improve the temperature imaging methods to eliminate the effects of fat which exist in the breast tissue. What’s more, for tissue containing water and fat, the water part will be influenced by the surrounded susceptibility’s change of fat, which may induce the wrong results of the temperature mapping. Therefore, a new temperature mapping correcting method must be proposed to reduce to influence of the temperature imaging by the susceptibility’s change. For the problems mentioned above, a new temperature mapping correcting algorithm is used to achieve an accurate temperature. Firstly, we calculate the temperature by a fundamental method. Secondly, because breast tissue contains lots of fat, we must calculate the temperature by the water-fat separating method together with the difference of the susceptibility changes between water and fat. Lastly, we evaluate the temperature mapping correcting method by the temperature difference. The simulation results show that for breast tissue model which contains both water and fat, when the power of the microwave ablation is15W and the time of duration is300s, the temperature mapping accuracy can reach0.34degree Celsius. All the results demonstrated the validity and feasibility of the temperature mapping correcting method and it’s also suitable for other tissue containing water and fat.
