Objective: To observe the clinical effect of jiaweixiaojianzhongtang on cardiac arrhythmia caused by viral myocarditis. Methods: 70 cases(treated from January 2010 to December 2012) accorded with the inclusive criteria were randomly divided into two groups, the control group and the TCM treatment group,35 cases were included in each group. The TCM treatment group were treated with jiaweixiaojianzhongtang(composition of the prescription: cassia twig20g; white peony roots30g; baked licorice30g;buffalo horn30g; sophora flavescens 15g; ginger 30g; jujube, one dose each day), while the control group were given propafenone(150mg po Tid). All patients received 10 weeks treatment. Observe the change of the attack frequency of cardiac arrhythmia, TCM symptoms, tongue and pulse. Results: There was no significant difference between the two groups in the effective rate(37.14%VS34.28%) and the significant rate(80.00%VS74.29%)(P<0.05). In terms of individual symptom scores, only palpitations and dizziness have significant improvement in the control group, while, there were significant improvement in Palpitations, dizziness, Chest tightness, fatigue, poor sleep of TCM treatment group(P<0.01).The tongue and pulse of treatment group have significant improvement before and after treatment. Conclusion: Compared with the control group, the treatment group had no significant advantage on efficiency rate, in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmia caused by viral myocarditis. TCM advantage is reflected in the reduction of symptoms and episodes of cardiac arrhythmia and attack frequency. Relative to severe condition, TCM treatment effect is significant in the treatment of mild to moderate condition.
