Objective:1 Comparative observation of the morphological and positional changes of the meniscus of patients with knee osteoarthritis and normal adults by the accurate measurement in MRI imaging of knee, discussing the relationship with osteoarthritis and providing evidence to improve the clinical research and diagnosis of meniscus.2 To explore the application value of T2-trufi3d-we-tra-p3-iso sequence of MRI combine with the three-dimensional reconstruction and the method of range radials in the measurements of the meniscus.Methods:20 cases of patients with knee osteoarthritis involving 20 knee joints were selected from our hospital as OA group between January 2013 to February 2014.The other,10 cases of the normal people were chosen as normal group, with 20 knee joints in total. The age, sex, body mass index were matched between the two groups. Siemens avanto 1.5 T superconductive MRI machine and knee joint surface coil were used in MRI examination. All subjects were scanned used the sequence of T2-trufi3d-we-tra-p3-iso.Post reconstruction was conducted with Siemens workstation. Thin-layer axis image taken with T2-trufi3d-we-tra-p3-iso was collected, making the three-dimensional reconstruction and using the method of range radials to segment the images with 10° interval of the medial meniscus and lateral meniscus respectively. We measure the entirety width of meniscus, the width covering the tibia platform of the meniscus and the thickness of the meniscus in the images we segmented, then we get the ratio of width and thickness and the displacement index of the medial meniscus by calculate. We analyze the data we measured and calculated between the two groups.Result:1 No significant differences between the two groups in the entirety width of medial meniscus in all directions(P>0.05);Whereas, the width covering the tibia platform of the meniscus from 60° to 120° were smaller in OA group than that in the control group(P<0.05) and the thickness of the medial meniscus from 60° to 130° were thicker in OA group than that in the control group(P<0.05);The ratio of width and thickness of the medial meniscus from 100° to 130° have statistical significance(P<0.05);The groups of osteoarthritis is smaller than the control group; The DI of the medial meniscus from 70° to 90° were smaller in OA group than that in the control group(P<0.05).2 The entirety width and the width covering the tibia platform of lateral meniscus from 10° to 50° and 140° to 170° were greater in OA group than that in the control group(P<0.05);The thickness of the lateral meniscus from 120 ° to 170° were thicker in OA than that in the control group(P<0.05);The ratio of width and thickness of the lateral meniscus from 30° to 50° and 130°to 170° have statistical significance(P < 0.05),the groups of osteoarthritis is bigger than the control group.Conclusions:1 Compared with normal people, we found the width、thickness and the ratio of width and thickness have changed in some part of the meniscus in patients with osteoarthritis and this changes associated with knee osteoarthritis.2 Compared with the previous literatures, we measure the width covering the tibia platform of meniscus. We confirmed that the phenomenon of radial displacement can happen at any position and direction of the meniscus. In addition, compared with normal people, the displacement index in some part of the medial meniscus is higher in patients with osteoarthritis, we confirmed the relationship between the radial displacement of meniscus and osteoarthritis of knee.3 We used the T2-trufi3d-we-tra-p3-iso sequence of MRI combine with the three-dimensional reconstruction and the method of range radials to measure the meniscus firstly, which could measure the width and the thickness of the meniscus in any direction. A new check method and train of thought for the display and diagnosis of the meniscus with MRI was presented.
