Object: To identify species of ticks and detect tick-borne pathogens, with morphological classification and molecular characteristics, in northern Xinjiang, especially the border regions of northern Xinjiang.Methods:(1) Collected ticks from Alashankou and Wusu regions in Xinjiang, used morphological characteristics and the 16 S r DNA gene to identify tick species.(2) Adopted PCR detection technology, to detect the pathogens of tick-borne rickettsial, Borrelia burgdorferi spirochete and relapsing fever spirochete from ticks, and to analyze the positive product sequencing.Results:(1) With morphological classification and molecular characteristics, four genera and seven species of collected tickes were identified in Alashankou. Those are obtained Hyalomma asiaticum, H. erinacei, D. niveus, D.marginatus, R. turanicus, R. sanguineus and R. bursa. We obtained Argas persicus from Wusu.(2) Anaplasma, Ehrlichia and Lyme disease spirochete were detect from Hyalomma asiaticum and D.marginatus. R. sanguineus, just detected Borrelia burgdorferi spirochete. Hyalomma asiaticum have the higher positive rate of other species. R. raoultii was frist detected in Alashankou. But we don’t obtained anyone pathogens of Rickettsia, Borrelia burgdorferi spirochete and relapsing fever spirochete from A. persicus, in Wusu regionConclusion:(1) Hyalomma asiaticum is the major species in Alashankou. H. erinacei is the major parasitic ticks of marbled polecat. R. bursa and R. turanicus fristly discovered in Alashankou. The 16 S r DNA sequence of Argas persicus was firstly obtained in Wusu.(2) The genotypes of Anaplasma ovis、Anaplasma phagocytophilum、Erhlichia chaffeeuisis and B. burgdorferi sensu stricto were obtained from ticks, R. raoultii was frist detected from D.marginatus, confirm that Alashankou is natural epidemic focus of the five pathogens. Marbled polecat is the pool of Erhlichia chaffeeuisis.
