The Clinical Research On Three Dimensional Conformal Radiotherapy Combined With Tegafur, Gimeracil And Oteracil Potassium Capsules For Treatment Of Advanced Cardia Carcinoma

Objective To observe the the efficacy and toxicity of three dimensional conformal radiotherapy(3D-CRT) combined with Tegafur, Gimeracil and Oteracil Potassium Capsules(S-1) for patients with advanced Cardia carcinoma. Methods From March 2012 to November 2013, 60 patients with advanced Cardia carcinoma were randomly divided into S-1 group and contrast group by random number table method, with 30 patients in each one.In the S-1 group, 3D-CRT with 6MV-X linear accelerator was given for 6~6.5 weeks, 1.8~2 Gy/f, 5f/w, the total dose was 60 Gy, meanwhile S-1 was given orally at dosage of 80 mg/d, twice a day, the total dose was 3360 mg. In the contrast group, only 3D-CRT was given in the same methods and doses. Results 2 months later from the end of 3D-CRT, the rates of complete response(CR), partial response(PR) and no response(NR) in the S-1 group were 40.00%, 53.33%, 6.67%, respectively, while CR, PR and NR in the contrast group were 23.33%, 50.00%, 26.67%, respectively. The overall response rate(CR+PR) was 88.00% in the S-1 group, and 59.50% in the contrast group(χ2=4.320, P=0.038). The 1-year overall survival rate was 83.80% in the S-1 group, and 67.10% in the contrast group(χ2=4.544, P=0.033). The 1-year overall survival rate for CR, PR, NR patients in two groups was 100%, 82.00%, 0%, respectively(χ2=62.760, P=0.000). The side effects in two group mainly were radiation esophagitis, nausea, anorexia and neutropenia, all of which were Ⅰ~Ⅱ grade. Conclusion 3D-CRT combined with S-1 is effective and safe for patients with advanced Cardia carcinoma, which can efficiently improve the survival quality, short-term effect, and may prolong survival term.The side effects are mild and tolerable.
