Objective:This paper aims to observation of the fracture of the skull base with intracranial infection in patients with serum procalcitonin(PCT) level change. And it explore the role value of serum PCT in early diagnosis. Methods:The test using an enzyme-linked fluorescence assay(ELFA method) conservative treatment of patients hospitalized during the skull fracture 30 cases. Discharge based on the results of intracranial infection, will be divided into infection group(n = 15)and non-infected group(n = 15). After setting the first day of injury(T1), the first two days of(T2), 3 days(T3), infection diagnosed intracranial infection and uninfected group of the same time period of(T4), discharge time(T5). Blood samples were taken five time measurement routine testing of blood, serum PCT values. Comparison of serum PCT concentrations at different time points, the blood of the detection index.Nose and skull fracture patients to be no leakage when the lumbar puncture.Cerebrospinal fluid taken from cerebrospinal fluid routine, biochemical, PCT values and cerebrospinal fluid bacterial culture of cerebrospinal fluid. Early diagnosis value of serum PCT skull fractures in patients with intracranial infection role.Results:1. The skull fracture patients, T1 was infected with serum PCT values than the control group, the difference was significant. Uninfected group and the control group, serum PCT value was not statistically significant, T2, T3, T4 infection, uninfectedserum PCT values were higher than the control group. The difference was significant.T2, T3, T4 infection serum PCT values are greater than the uninfected group, the difference was significant; T5 three groups of serum PCT value was not statistically significant. 2. The serum T4 infection group, NEU %, temperature all the WBC value is greater than uninfected group, with significant difference. 3. Serum PCT≄0.185 ng /m L as positive threshold for skull fracture with intracranial infection diagnosis sensitivity 93.3%, specificity of 86.7%.Conclusions:The fracture of the skull base leads to increase in serum PCT values. The skull fractures in patients with intracranial infection, dynamic observation of serum PCT early detection of intracranial infection. Serum PCT can be used as a reference index for early diagnosis.
