Expression And Clinical Significance Of Serum IL-23,IFN-γ In Patients With Ankylosing Spondylitis

Objective To detecte the serum level of interleukin-23(IL-23), Interferon-γ(IFN-γ) by Luminex liquidchip in patients with ankylosing spondylitis(AS), then to study the clinical significance of these cytokines with AS and its activity.Methods 53 cases of AS patients(include 41 males, 12 females, aged betweem 23 to 50 years),30 cases of rheumatoidarthritis(RA) patients(include 9 males, 21 females, aged betweem 30 to 56 years), 30 cases of healthy control group(include 22 males, 8 females, aged betweem 22 to 45 years) were all selected from Longyan First Hospital Attached Fujian Medical University August 2013 to December 2014. To detecte the serum level of IL-23, IFN-γ by Luminex liquidchip in patients with AS, patients with RA and health groups. Detect the C-reactive protein(CRP) by Immunoturbidimetry, erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR) by Instrumental method in all of the AS patients. Assessed the AS patient disease activity index(ASDAS-CRP) made by The Assessment of Spondyloarthritis international Society. Then to analyze the serum levels of cytokines in patients with ankylosing spondylitis with inflammatory biomarkers: CRP, ESR and ASDAS-CRP, and to compare the serum IL-23、IFN-γ in patients with ankylosing spondylitis who were treated to the before treatment ones. Mann-Whitney U and Spearman linear correlation analysis were used for statistical analysis.Results ①The level of serum IL-23 and INF-γ in patients with AS were higher than the health groups(P<0.001).②The level of serum IL-23 and INF-γ in patients with AS were lower than the patients with RA(P<0.001).③Correlaions between serum IL-23 with CRP,ASDAS-CRP in AS patients(r=0.349 and 0.327,P=0.01 and 0.017), Correlaions between serum INF-γ with CRP, ASDAS-CRP in AS patients(r=0.454 and 0.402,P=0.001 and 0.003), but the serum IL-23 and INF-γ had no correlations with ESR(P>0.05). ④The level of serum IL-23, IFN-γ in patients with AS were obviously decreased after treament than before(P<0.05).Conclusion ① The IL-23, IFN- γ may participate in the occurrence and development of AS, detection and dynamic observation of the serum IL- 23, IFN-γ may be used as the evaluation index of the activities in AS.②The level of serum IL-23 and INF-γ in patients with AS were lower than the patients with RA, but the reason is not clear, need further research.
