Objective:To observe and study the effectiveness of Sancai Powder in the treatment of initial diagnosis of type 2 diabetes mellitus, and also the effects on inflammatory cytokines, the marker of endothelial injury changes, and the level of GLP-1 and GC.Methods:Eighty cases of patients with type 2 diabetes are taken into initial diagnosis using a positive control and multi-center method They are randomly divided into an experimental group (Sancai powder group) of 40 cases and a control group (metformin group) of the other 40 cases. After 12 weeks of treatment, compare the fasting blood glucose (FPG),2 hour postprandial blood glucose (2hPG), glycosylated hemoglobin (HbAlc) changes of the two groups. The inflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha) and interleukin -6 (IL-6), the endothelial cell injury markers such as von Willebrand factor (vWF) and endothelin-1 (ET-1), and the glucagon like peptide-1 (GLP-1), glucagon (GC) also need to be compared. Then evaluate and analyze the effectiveness of Sancai powder and the treatment mechanism. Results:The FPG and 2hPG (P<0.01) of both groups are significantly lowered after treatment, and there was no significant difference between groups (P>0.05). Remarkable decrease of glycosylated hemoglobin (P<0.01) of both groups are achieved, and there is no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05). After the treatment, the IL-6 and TNF-α of the experimental group are significantly decreased (P<0.01), and the IL-6 and TNF-α of the treatment group are also decreased, showing a statistical significance (P<0.05) without obvious difference between groups (P>0.05). VWF in the two groups after treatment decreases (P<0.05), but ET-1 only decreases in the test group (P<0.05). Compared with the change of vWF and ET-1 in both groups after treatment, there is no significant difference (P>0.05). After treatment, the fact that GLP-1 only increases in the experimental group (P<0.05) and almost remains the same in the treatment group (P>0.05) shows the difference of the existence of GLP-1 between the two groups (P<0.05). After treatment, the level of GC does not change obviously in any group (P>0.05), and there is no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05).Conclusion:The effect of Sancai powder in the treatment of newly diagnosed patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus is similar to the effect of metformin. It effectively inhibits the inflammatory factor and the endothelium injury markers, promotes the secretion of GPL-1, and significantly improves the clinical symptoms of the patients.
