The Ministry of Education in our country put forward that the concept of core competence for Chinese nurse for the first time in 2003. At the same year, Liu Ming proposed the framework of core competence for domestic nurse. With the development of various specialized nursing, such as ICU, Emergency Department, Obstetrical Department, Hematology Department, Geriatric and so on, but no research on the core competence of the pediatric nurse. Therefore, construction of core competence evaluation system for pediatric nurse has become the urgent affairs.ObjectiveTo probe into the core competencies requirement of pediatric clinical nurse, and to construct the pediatric nursing core competence evaluation index system. It can provide a reference basis about selection, training, assessment of pediatric nurse for nursing manager. At the same time, it also enrich the connotation of the core competence for pediatric nurse.MethodsFirstly, in research group through literature review and panel discussion to construct the basic framework and questionnaire of core competence evaluation index system for pediatric clinical nurses. Secondly, Delphi expert consultation method was applied to carry out two rounds of questionnaires consultation and to establish weight coefficient of each level of index by analytic hierarchy process, and SPSS software for statistical processing. Lastly, from the concrete core competence system for pediatric nurse.ResultsThe first and second rounds of questionnaire recovery rate respectively were 96% and 100%, it probed experts of highly motivated. The authority of experts decision by the experts’ judgment and familiarity, through two rounds consultation and investigation showing that the expert coefficient of authority was 0.88, the judgment coefficient was 0.84, familiarity coefficient was 0.91, it was observed that the experts authority was high, the accuracy was reliable. The final result obtained that 6 first level indexes which include professional attitude, nursing practice, critical thinking, disease information management, communication and coordination ability and professional development ability; and 20 second level indexes. The specific content were:Professional attitude included four aspects there were professional ethics, responsibility and sympathy, service awareness, and working attitude; Nursing practice included professional knowledge, professional skill, and nursing security assurance ability; critical thinking contained four aspects there were strain capacity, clinical observation and predictable capacity, analytic ability, assessment and evaluation ability; disease information management to be disease management and information management; communication and coordination ability contained communicative competence, coordinate ability and self-control; The professional development ability to be career planning and self-learning, integrating capacity, research and evidence-based ability, and teaching capacity. Third level had 66 indexes. Coordination coefficients of all levels and overall indexes were respectively 0.628,0.600,0.616, and 0.608. Chi-square test P< 0.001, which showing statistically significant, highly identity, well harmony. To sum up, this study has good scientific and reliability.ConclusionThe core competence evaluation index system for pediatric nurses is consists of three levels and 92 items, working out that the core competence evaluation index system for pediatric nurses. Experts options are consistent, The results are scientific and reliable. It can provide a reference for pediatric clinical nurse’s evaluation, training, assessment and appointment, and also can provide the basis for nursing education goal setting.
