TCM is the written abbreviation of traditional Chinese medicine. TCM, a medical discipline created by the Chinese people, has evolved in the course of long medical practice. After more than 2,000 years of development, TCM has developed into a whole set of unique system of diagnosing and treating diseases. There are both the same place and different places between traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine.Relationship between traditional Chinese medicine and science, until now is still the focus of the debate. Inquiry whether TCM is science reflects the exploration about the nature of science. The definition of science is different with the change of the history. Science not only refers to western science, but also oriental science. In fact, TCM is fundamentally different from western science, so they are two kinds of different system. TCM is science, but it is not western science. Criteria of science demarcation should be diversified, so in western science demarcation standard to judge TCM is not reasonable. In the paper, based on the study method of philosophy of science, traditional Chinese medicine is analyzed and researched in the perspective of western science.Relationship between traditional Chinese medicine and culture is also the issue which must be discussed. TCM, a medicine discipline born in the Chinese culture matrix, has a very obvious cultural background. In terms of the relationship, TCM derives from China’s human geography condition and dominant traditional culture. Researching TCM can deepen the understanding of traditional culture. By studying traditional culture, it is also advantageous to evaluate TCM. The paper starts from the Chinese language and character, unfolding the historical picture scroll of TCM culture, then introduces TCM from the perspective of Confucian culture, and recreates the culture of TCM keeping in good health, making the public have closer, more real understanding of traditional Chinese medicine.
