System Review And Meta-Analysis Of Radix Puerariae Tonga Subtraction Treatment For Cervical Spondylosis

Background:Cervical spondylosis is a kind of disease which can produce pain and disfunction on neck,shoulders and upper limbs, headache, dizziness, it is caused by the degenerative change of the cervical discs and other organizations of the cervical. There are about six types of this disease:cervical type, nerve root type, vertebral artery type, spinal cord type, sympathetic type and mixed type. The symptoms have a serious influence on the life quality of the patients who got this disease when this disease is worse. It had reffered in the ancient book 《Shang Han Lun》 which is one of the famous old ancient books.It was said in this bookrWhen the disease of TaiYang cames, GeGen Tang is the main method if the neck muscle of the patient is tense,the patient has no sweat and be fear of the wind.These two kind of disease have the same symptom. So there maybe some kind of relationship between them. There are already many randomized controlled trials in the clinical studies, but in the same time,no system review and Meta-analysis of radix puerariae tonga subtraction treatment for cervical spondylosis.This study will try to do the system review and Meta-analysis of radix puerariae tonga subtraction treatment for cervical spondylosis for evaluating the effectiveness and safety and valuing the GeGen Tang in a scientific method. This study will provide a higher evidence based on medicine.Purpose:Make the system review and Meta-analysis of radix puerariae tonga subtraction treatment for cervical spondylosis for evaluating the effectiveness and safety and valuing the GeGen Tang in a scientific method. Providing a higher evidence based on medicine for the clinic practice.Method:Reaching the following databases with computer: CNKI,VIP,CBM,WanFang database,PubMed and Cochrane Library database. The deadline is 2016.Bring all of the randomized controlled trials treating for cervical spondylosis with radix puerariae tonga subtraction. Analysis all of the included literatures with RevMan5.3 software. Effect evaluation will be evaluated by using odds ratio for count data, and mean difference for continuous. The condidence interval will be 95% for the outcome.Outcome index:main outcome indicators:(1) Total effective rate; (2) VAS scores.Secondary outcome indicators:(1) Side effect; (2) Recurrence rate about the follow-up visit.Result:There are 32 literatures which were included. And the Meta-analysis shows:On improving the total effective rate:1.GeGen Tang(and its subtraction) has advantage than Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs;2.GeGen Tang(and its subtraction) has advantage than other chinese medicines;3.GeGen Tang(and its subtraction) combined with acupuncture has advantage than acupuncture only;4.GeGen Tang(and its subtraction) has advantage than traction;5.GeGen Tang(and its subtraction) combined with massage has advantage than massage only;6.GeGen Tang(and its subtraction) combined with massage has advantage than western medicine(Celecoxib capsules). Qualitative Analysis shows that GeGen Tang(and its subtraction) can reduce the VAS scores for treating cervical spondylosis.There are no side effect found.Conclusion:GeGen Tang(and its subtraction) can improve the total effective rate and reduce the VAS scores.There are no side effect found. And it is mainly for cervical type, nerve root type, vertebral artery type.
