Decision-making In Patients With Primary Angle-closure Glaucoma

Objective To investigate personality, decision-making under risk and the relationship between decision-making and personality in primary angle-closure glaucoma patients.Methods A total of 82 primary angle-closure glaucoma patients which includes 40 acute angle-closure glaucoma patients and 42 chronic angle-closure glaucoma patients,and 40 healthy controls were studied. Decision-making under risk was evaluated with the game of dice task(GDT). The type A behavior questionnaire and Eysenck personality questionnaire(EPQ) was used to evaluate patients’ type A behavior and personality characteristics.Results Patients with primary angle-closure glaucoma tended to make risky decisions significantly more often in GDT compared to healthy controls. The utilization rate of negative feedback in GDT was significantly lower in glaucoma patients. There was not relevant between the number of the choice of risk options and negative feedback utilization with type A behavior and personality traits. The proportion of type A personality in Patients with primary angle-closure glaucoma and type A behavior score of TH, CH, TH + CH scores were higher than the healthy control. Personality characteristics N,P scale scores in EPQ of patients with acute angle-closure glaucoma were higher than the healthy control. Personality characteristics N scale scores was higher in EPQ of Patients with chronic angle-closure glaucoma.Conclusion Primary angle-closure glaucoma patients exhibited impaired decision-making under risky condition. The performance of primary angle-closure glaucoma patients is prefer to make risky choices.It also has a typical type A behavior and Personality traits of neuroticism.There was no correlation between decision-making impaired and type A behavior and personality traits.
