Objective1. To describe the existing situation of urinary incontinence in patients with cardiac heart failure (CHF).2. To explore the possible factors that might influence the urinary incontinence of patients with CHF, and to provide reliable basis for the prevention and treatment of this disease.MethodThis study was a cross-sectional study. Convenience sampling method was used to 774 CHF patients from the cardiovascular clinic of a grade 3 and first class hospital in Jinan, during the period of May 2015 and Jan 2016. General information questionnaire, International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire-Short Form (ICI-Q-SF), Physical Activity Rating Scale (PARS-3), Self-care of Heart Failure Index (SCHFI V6.2), Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-8) were adopted to collect the data, and SAS 9.4 software was used to analyse the data. The general statistical information and scale scores were studied by descriptive statistical method. The influencing factors were analysed by univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis of incontinence in patients with CHF.Results1. In this study, a total of 900 questionnaires were sent out and 774 valid questionnaires were retrieved, the effective rate was 86%.2. Among 774 cases of chronic heart failure patients,335 cases have urinary incontinence, the prevalence of urinary incontinence in CHF patients is 43.3%. Urge incontinence has the highest prevalence, which is 40.1%, followed by mixed urinary incontinence,30.2%. The severity of urinary incontinence are mild incontinence takes up 47.2%, moderate incontinence occupies 44.2% and severe incontinence counts 8.7% respectively.3. Multivariate logistic regression analysis shows that the statistically significant variables are mainly gender, family income, drinking, thirst-extent, cardiac function, hypertension, sleep apnea, diuretics.Conclusion1. Chronic heart failure patients have a higher prevalence of urinary incontinence and urge incontinence is predominant. It should be paid common attention by health care workers, patients and their families. Health care workers should do good job on the prevention and management of the CHF patients with urinary incontinence.2. CHF patients with urinary incontinence mainly are urge incontinence. Gender, family income, drinking, thirst-extent, cardiac function, hypertension, sleep apnea and diuretics are factors which influence the occurrence of urinary incontinence. Doctors should stress importance, and make reasonable diagnosis as well as treatment of this disease.
