Clinical Study On Tongdutiaoren Method Of Acupuncture Treating Cervical Vertigo

ObjectiveTo observe the clinical effect of Tongdutiaoren method of acupuncture treating cervical vertigo (CV), compared with regular acupuncture prescription, under the Cervical Vertigo Symptoms and Functional Assessment Scale. It’s aimed at offering one more effective treatment plan on cervical vertigo.Methods60 CV patients who met the inclusion criteria were put into the test. They were randomly divided into two groups - one is experiment group, another control group.59 of them were actually completed the tests,30 from the experiment group, and 29 from the control group. The experiment group prescribed fengfu(GV16), naohu(GV17), dazhui(GV14), houxi(SI3)(both), qihai(CV6), zhongwan(CV12), lieque(LU7)(both), under the direction of Tongdutiaoren method. Other acupuncture points were chose based on TCM pattern of syndrome prescription. The control group prescribed cervical jiaji point, tianzhu(BL10), fengchi(GB20)(both), baihui(GV20), xuazhong(GB39)(both), under the direction of regular acupuncture prescription, also with other acupuncture points based on TCM pattern of syndrome prescription. In both of the two groups, retention of the needle in the body last half hour. Apply mild reinforcing-reducing rotating method every 10 minutes. Every subject was treated once in a day.5 consecutive days was one course. Two courses were demanded, and between these 2 courses was two days of no treatment. Score every subject by Cervical Vertigo Symptoms and Functional Assessment Scale both before the first treatment and after the last treatment. Analyze the scores with the software SPSS 22.0 to see the therapeutic effect of the Tongdutiaoren Method of Acupuncture Treating Cervical Vertigo.ResultsBy statistics analysis, the difference of gender, age, course of disease and TCM pattern of syndrome between two groups had no significance.1.30 subjects in the experiment group all finished the test. Before the first treatment,11 of them got scores<20.5,7 of them got scores between 20.5 to 30,2 of them got scores>30. After the last treatment,2 of them got scores<20.5.2 of them got scores between 20.5 to 30,26 of them got scores>30. Analyzing these scores with Ridit Test showed an increase after treatment. That is the treatment of the experiment group can ease the symptoms of dizziness, improve the subjects’mental health and also life quality.2.29 subjects in the control group finished the test. Before the first treatment,9 of them got scores<20.5,13 of them got scores between 20.5 to 30,7 of them got scores>30. After the last treatment,1 of them got scores<20.5,9 of them got scores between 20.5 to 30,19 of them got scores>30. Analyzing these scores with Ridit Test showed an increase after treatment. That is the treatment of the experiment group can ease the symptoms of dizziness, improve the subjects’ mental health and also life quality.3. After two courses of treatment, the scores of experiment group increased, comparing those before the treatment.5 of the subjects had scores increased less than 7,9 between 7 to 14,16 higher than 14. After two courses of treatment, the scores of control group also increased, comparing those before the treatment.8 of the subjects had scores increased less than 7,20 between 7 to 14,1 higher than 14. Analyzing the increased scores between these two groups with Ridit Test showed a higher rise in experiment group.4. The evaluation of therapeutic efficiency was graded into 4 ranks cure, excellence, effect, inefficacy After two courses of treatment, the experiment group got 6 cases in cure,11 in excellence,10 in effect and 3 in inefficacy; while the control group got 4 cases in cure,7 in excellence,12 in effect and 6 in inefficacy. Analysis with Ridit Test showed no significant difference between these 2group.
