Current Situations, Issues And Countermeasures For The Development Of Medical And Health Industry In Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture

Ever since the launching of "Open-up and Reform" policy, the socialist market economy has been growing continuously, bringing the national economy into a stage of high-speed development. The non-profitable nature of our country’s medical and health industry has greatly benefited our people; however, the diversified modes of development of the industry have become a new trend. It is necessary for the industry to become profitable and self-sufficient to meet the international conventions of the industry and to development itself smoothly as well. Therefore, a bright future is laying ahead for our country’s medical and health industry. Against this backdrop, it is urgent for us to take full advantage of this opportunity to speed up the industrialization. The vision brings a lot of incentives for the development of medical and health industry in Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture. Accurate knowledge about the industrial structure and the extent to which the industry influences the economic development of the Prefecture is indispensible for promoting medical reform, accelerating economic development and improving people livelihood.This paper consists of five parts. Part One, starting from some preliminaries, illustrates some theories concerning medical and health industry by analyzing the subject matter, contents and methodology of the study. Part Two explores some basic concepts and features of medical and health industry, and analyzes the policies for the development of the industry and the interdependence between the industry and the economic development. Part Three, by analyzing the basic situations in Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, proposes some problems in the development of the industry as a result of field study and data analysis. It focuses on the market of medical and health services and the competitions in the market. Part Four analyzes the above-mentioned problems, including the resource allocation, professional equipments, talents cultivation, national medical and pharmaceutical industry, etc. By surveying these problems, this part also scientifically positions the advantages and disadvantages of the industry in Yanbian. Part Five puts forwards some suggestions for the development of the industry in Yanbian and some countermeasures for the challenges the industry poses, with the hope to spur the faster and healthier development of the industry in Yanbian.
