Research objectivesThis essay aims to investigate the morbidity of depression among elderly patients with lung cancer chemotherapy, and to explore the related factors of the occurrence of depression among elderly patients with lung cancer chemotherapy.Research methodologyThe study adopts convenience sampling method, from January 2015 to October 2015 conveniently extracting 177 elderly patients with lung cancer chemotherapy (accord with the inclusion criteria) whose chemical treatments were done in Tumor Hospital of thoracic oncology of Zhejiang Province, regarding them as the research objects. The research tools mainly include general information questionnaire, Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD), Zung Depression self-rating scale, KPS score. Select and use software Excele2010 for data entry, using SPSS software for data analysis, summarizing the situation of morbidity of depression among elderly patients with lung cancer chemotherapy, and then analyzing various factors contributed to the problem that elderly lung cancer patients are complicated with depression.Research results:The survey discovers that the rate of elderly lung cancer chemotherapy patients complicated with depression is 66.09%, inside which the mild depression incidence rate is 35.59%, moderate depression incidence rate is 25.42%, and severe depression incidence rate is 5.08%. Chi-square test shows that age, education, understanding of the disease, having or not having underlying diseases have no statistical significance (P> 0.05)) on the occurrence differences of the elderly lung cancer patients’ depression symptom. Gender, marital status, place of residence, and the payment mode, primary caregiver, chemotherapy, chemotherapy cycle, the family care, treatment, symptoms of respiratory system disease, KPS score are of statistical significance (P< 0.05) on the occurrence differences of the elderly lung cancer patients’ depression symptom. Through analysis, Spearman found the morbidity of depression among elderly patients with lung cancer chemotherapy, to some extent, is related to marital status, place of residence, payment methods, primary caregiver, chemotherapy drugs, respiratory symptoms, family care, treatment, cycles of chemotherapy, gender and so on. KPS score shows its remarkable correlation with the occurrence of depression among elderly lung cancer chemotherapy patients.Research conclusions:1 Elderly lung cancer patients have high morbidity of depression.2 The depression degree of elderly patients with lung cancer chemotherapy patients is mild and moderate.3 The there is no risk of depression in elderly lung cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy factors:age, education, popularity, basic disease condition, these factors no correlation with depression in elderly patients with lung cancer chemotherapy4 Depression in elderly patients with lung cancer chemotherapy in low risk factors:marital status, place of residence, payment method, the main caregivers, chemotherapy drugs, respiratory symptoms, treatment stage, these factors have low correlation with depression in elderly patients with lung cancer chemotherapy.5 In depression in elderly patients with lung cancer chemotherapy dangerous factors:gender, chemotherapy cycle, these factors have weak correlation with depression in elderly patients with lung cancer chemotherapy.6 Risk factors in elderly patients with lung cancer chemotherapy in depression: KPS score, this has to do with depression in elderly patients with lung cancer chemotherapy was significantly negative correlations.
