Objective: To describe the current state of family resilience among primary caregivers of elderly lung cancer patients,to analyze the factors influencing family resilience among primary caregivers of elderly lung cancer patients, and to provide a reference for clinical caregivers to carry out interventions for family resilience among elderly lung cancer patients in the future. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study.A continuous sampling method was used to select 240 primary caregivers of elderly lung cancer patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were selected from October 2021 to August 2022 in the medical oncology ward of the first affiliated hospital of China Medical University, and questionnaires were administered using the self-designed general information questionnaire for elderly lung cancer patients and caregivers, the Family Hardiness Index, the Family APGAR Index, the Simple Coping Style Questionnaire and the Perceived Social Support Scale. The SPSS 23.0 was used to analyze the study data.Frequencies and percentages were used to describe general information about elderly lung cancer patients and primary caregivers, and means and standard deviations were used to describe levels of family resilience among primary caregivers of elderly lung cancer patients. The study investigated the factors impacting family resilience among primary caregivers of elderly lung cancer patients using univariate analysis and multiple regression analysis. Results: The family resilience score of primary caregivers of elderly lung cancer patients was moderate(50.38±8.81),with the three dimensions scored of responsibility(24.66±4.33),challenge(13.71±2.63)and control(12.01±3.34).Family function of primary caregivers of elderly lung cancer patients, positive coping style, social support were positively correlated with total family resilience score(P<0.01),while negative coping style of primary caregivers of elderly lung cancer patients was negatively correlated with total family resilience score(P<0.01).The dependent variable was the family resilience score of primary caregivers of elderly lung cancer patients, and the factors that had a statistically significant effect on the family resilience of primary caregivers of elderly lung cancer patients were chosen as independent variables(marriage, pathological stage, duration of disease diagnosis, family size, per capita monthly household income, caregiver’s educational level, duration of care, caregiver’s selfperceived health status, caregiver’s religion),and finally entered into the regression equation. The caregiver’s education level, religion, positive coping style, family support and family function were the five independent variables that entered into the regression equation, which together accounted for 73% of the total variance in family resilience among primary caregivers of elderly lung cancer patients. Conclusion: The family resilience of primary caregivers of elderly lung cancer patients was moderate level, with the caregiver’s educational level, caregiver’s religion, positive coping style, family support and family function among the factors that influenced family resilience in primary caregivers of elderly lung cancer patients.
