Objective:The level of serum adiponectin is closely related to the risk factors of dyslipidemia, diabetes mellitus, cerebrovascular disease, but there is still a controversy about whether adiponectin is related to coronary heart disease (CHD). In view of a lot of domestic researches on the relationship between adiponectin and cardiovascular diseases, and the results did not reach an agreement. Therefore, this meta-analysis was carried out to evaluate the relationship between serum adiponectin level and CHD in Chinese population. Methods:According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria to obtain the published research literature which were searched from main database on the relationship between Chinese population serum adiponectin levels and CHD. Two researchers independently extracted the relevant data in the literature. The data was analysised by Stata 12.0 software. Results:The meta-analysis included 27 articles, with a total sample size of 3763 patients, of which 2359 patients with CHD group and 1404 patients in the control group. Because of the heterogeneity between the studies (I2=96.5%). Meta-analysis was conducted by random effects model. The results showed that the level of serum adiponectin in Chinese population was lower than that of the control group, the difference was statistically significant [SMD=-1.88,95%CI (-2.31,-1.45), P< 0.05]. Sensitivity analysis suggested that the studies had no significant effect on the total combined effect, and the meta-analysis showed good robustness. The subgroup analysis found that heterogeneity in the NOS score, total sample size, cases of coronary heart disease group, proportion of male group was decreased, and the results of the combined group was robust. Begg’s test and Egger’s test were all suggested that there was publication bias in the literatures. Conclusion:The serum adiponectin level is closely related to CHD in Chinese population, low level of adiponectin is an independent risk factor for CHD. Because of the heterogeneity and publication bias in the literatures, the relationship between adiponectin and CHD in Chinese population still need to be further explored.
