| ObjectivePatent documents contain a lot of industry technical information not in other documents, that can objectively reflect the internal technology development of the current industry;Besides, industry situation analysis method(SWOT) can help us to quickly master the development of industrial technology, identify the internal advantages and disadvantages of industry development, as well as the external development opportunities and threats. This thesis will combination the industry analysis method(SWOT) and patent analysis method to study the Chinese medicine industry in Guangzhou, in the hope to integrate the industry’s internal technology development with external development environment for making reasonable, comprehensive and systematic development countermeasures of Chinese medicine industry in Guangzhou.Methods1.The Literature analysis. Through extensive review of the literature, to understand Chinese medicine patent information analysis methodology, research results and application in the field of the status quo. At the meantimes,to understand the technology classification method of Chinese medicine patents, as well as the form, meaning and application of the classification of the international patent classification(IPC), so as to lay a theoretical foundation for subsequent patent research.2. The Situational analysis(SWOT analysis).To study the traditional Chinese medicine industry environment of Guangdong province in recent years (such as policy trends, development opportunities and threats, competitive advantages and disadvantages, etc.), positioning to provide development guidance for the Chinese medicine industry of Guangzhou.3. The Expert consultation method. Regularly Consulting experts of the Guangdong Technical Engineering Institute of Traditional Chinese medicine and the Institute of Economics and Management in Guangzhou university of Chinese Medicine about the construction of traditional Chinese medicine patent database, statistical method selection, industry development strategy research and paper writing relevant problems and so on, and exploring together.4. The statistical analysis. Using SPSS 19.0 and excel statistical software for the data Statistics, to analyse the patent information such as the patent application and authorization, legal status and the situation of the applicant, the technical topics distribution (including the object of patent protection, traditional Chinese medicine patent applications, the number of Chinese medicine ingredients classification, the classification of the equipment, technology and method of classification, efficacy component classification, IPC classification), as well as to mine the development situation and technology layout of Chinese medicine patent information in Guangzhou, based on the integrated use of time series method, the statistical frequency of sorting method, statistical tests, the clustering analysis method and so on.ResuItAfter comprehensive analysis, the following results are obtained:1. The SWOT analysis results:Guangdong traditional Chinese medicine industry has the following development advantages as a good policy, proprietary Chinese medicine enterprise own mature, foreign exchange conveniently, mass base and so on,with weak patent protection consciousness, serious patent infringement cases, the lack of innovation ability, the lag of industrial development as its disadvantages. Meantimes, Guangdong traditional Chinese medicine industry has the following development opportunities as the new patent law protection, the new medical reform, building the Chinese medicine strong province, the first Chinese medicine Nobel Prize and so on, with legislation defects in TCM protection system, foreign enterprise patent strategy, and the competition with other provinces and cities as its threats.2. The basic analysis results of Guangzhou Chinese medicine patents:(1)From 2006 to 2014, the application number of Guangzhou Chinese medicine patents has increased year by year generally, with three stages as short back, slow growth, rapid growth. Besides, Patent development situation is closely related to national policy activities in the field of TCM; (2)The overall quality level of Guangzhou Chinese medicine patents is low;(3)The applicant layout for the Guangzhou Chinese medicine patents is unreasonable;(4)The maintenance of Guangzhou Chinese medicine patents is not optimistic.3.
