The 5T4 Expression In Prostate Cancer And Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia

Objective:Analysis of the difference of 5T4 expression between Pca and BPH tissues.Method:39 Pca specimens are obtained from cases of radical prostatectomy or prostate biopsy, and 16 BPH specimens are obtained from cases of TURP. IHC staining of 5T4 is implemented to identify 5T4 expression in Pca and BPH tissues, and the difference of 5T4 expression is analyzed by professional statistical software.Results:1. IHC denotes positive 5T4 expression in both Pea and BPH tissues mainly on the cell membranes, and in some cases in cytoplasm, presenting with brown, yellow or light yellow.2.5T4 is of high expression in Pca tissues with patchy distribution, while in BPH tissues 5T4 is lowly expressed and sparsely distributed, but mostly found in the basal cells of prostatic acini.3.5T4 is of high expression and deeply stained in PIN(prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia).4. A statistically significant difference of 5T4 expression exists between Pca and BPH(P<0.01).Conclusions:1.5T4 is of high expression in Pea tissues and of low expression in BPH tissues, which is valuable in the distinguishment between benign and malignant prostatic diseases.2. The high expression of 5T4 in PIN is the biological basis for the excessively proliferative and carcinogenic inclination of PIN cells.
