A Comparative Study Of Tandospirone And Paroxetine In Treating E Pile Psy Patients With Anxiety And Depression

Objectives:To evaluate the efficacy of tandospirone and paroxetine in epilepsy with anxiety and depression.Methods:Sixty-eight patients with temporal lobe epilepsy with anxiety and depression in First Hospital of Shanxi Medical University from October 2014 to October 2015 were randomly divided into tandospirone group(34 patients) and paroxetine group(34 patients). Patients were provided tandospirone or paroxetine on the basis of conventional antiepileptic drugs,and the treatment lasted for a course of 12 weeks.We assessed the efficacy through Hamilton anxiety scale(HAMA-14), Hamilton depression scale(HAMD-17),seizure frequency and biochemical tests and physical examinations four weeks and twelve weeks after the treatment.Results:(1) Comparison in anxiety and depression :compared with the baseline,the HAMA scores(A group,before treatment:17.32±2.21;4 weeks:14.34±2.11;12 weeks:10.46±1.89;B group,before treatment:16.92±2.42;4 weeks:15.53±1.98;12 weeks:11.84±2.73)、the HAMD scores(A group,before treatment:21.83±2.02,4 weeks:17.25±2.74,12 weeks:12.18±2.93;B group,before treatment:21.76±2.28,4 weeks:18.68±2.35,12 weeks:14.21±2.13) in tandospirone and paroxetine groups decreased significantly at four weeks and twelve weeks(P <0.05). Difference of HAMA(4 weeks,A :14.34±2.11,B:15.53±1.98;12 weeks,A:10.46±1.89,B:11.84±2.73)、HAMD(4 weeks,A:17.25±2.74,B:18.68±2.35;12 weeks,A:12.18±2.93,B:14.21±2.13)at four and twelve weeks between the two groups were also statistically significant(P <0.05).(2) Comparison in epileptic seizures :at twelve weeks, the efficiency of antiepilepsy treatment in tandospirone group and paroxetine group were 76.47% and 50.00% respectively, and the difference was statistically significant(P <0.05).(3) Comparison in adverse reactions :there was no serious adverse drug event in two groups,the adverse reactions included dizziness(1 patient)、gastrointestinal discomfort(2 patients), lethargy(1 patient)in tandospirone group.In addition, it also included constipation(2 patients)、 thirst(1 patient) in paroxetine group. The incidence of adverse events was 11.76%、20.59%,and the difference was no statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusions:(1)Compared with the paroxetine, the tandospirone has better efficacy in epilepsy patients with depression and anxiety,and few adverse event happens relatively.(2)In epilepsy patients with anxiety and depression, the use of tandospirone or paroxetine based on antiepileptic drugs could improve mood disorders and also suppress seizures.
