Comparative Research Of Traditional Compositions Of Qin And Zheng

As the ancient musical instruments of China, the musical and artisticdevelopment of Guqin and Guzheng has been under wide concern of the pubilc. Thepaper focuses on the analogy and exploration of their similarities and difference intheme, musical language, structure and its music expression and aesthetic style. Onthe ground of tremendous amount of traditional Chinese composition,literature(including academic thesis and works), the author takes analysis of analogyand detailed introduction of Guqin and Guzheng traditional composition.The contents and main structure are as follows:Chapter1: this part would introduce the state of development of these twoinstruments. And the social function and difference of status would be put forwardfirstly,and then the detailed discussion would be given about two instruments.Chapter2, the comparison of traditional compositions Guqin and Guzheng will beproposed,and then the author analyzes their application of identical and differentcomposition of Guqin and Guzheng. Exemplification will be used in this part.Chapter3, the comparison of musical language of Guqin and Guzheng. This partis to state the difference between them through detailed examples to compare theircharacteristics in musical scale, beats and polyphonicChapter4, the comparison of composition structure and expression of Guqin andGuzheng. Traditional Guqin composition consists of five parts, while the counterpartof Guzheng consists of eight styles, which concludes their first difference. They arealso different from the techniques of expression like subsiding the voice by rhyme,special techniques and change of their tones.Chapeter5, the comparison of aesthetic style of Guqin and Guzheng. The style isclosely realted with its language. Combining the statement in chapter3, the authorexplores their differences and comes to a conclusion of their differences in eleganceand informality.This paper centralize the similarities and differences of traditional compositions ofGuqin and Guzheng, and eloborates from the themes, musical language,structure and techniques of expression and aesthetic style, and in hope of providing some help totraditional cpmpositions of Guqin and Guzheng in their inheritation, arrangement anddistinction.
