A Research On Mass Dance Culture Under The Background Of Contemporary Chinese Community Culture Construction

In our country, professional dance education is to promote the development of arteducation while mass dance is an important way for people to build their bodies and addamusement to their life. Both are important parts of dance culture development in ourcountry and have developed into different dance classes due to the difference of socialownership. In a sense, the great development of Chinese dance culture is based on thecommon development and prosperity of professional dance and mass dance. Massdance, in particular, is not only an important leisure activity for the public to experienceculture and derive pleasure from but also the foundation and the source of thedevelopment of professional dance. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure the prosperity ofthe mass dance and make it develop on the proper way gradually so as to realize thecomprehensive development of dance culture. According to the survey，the mass dancein Chongqing is in the leading rank of the development of the mass dance in our country.Moreover, it plays an important role in promoting the cultural construction of the massdance in our country. This paper probes into the square dance in Chongqing and setsstandards for organization forms, teaching methods, topic selection, dancingarrangement and the development, hoping more dancers to contribute to theconstruction of the square dance and encouraging all the people to get involved in thesquare dance. It is hoped that this paper may make small contribution to promoting thedevelopment of the mass dance culture in our country and the comprehensiveimplementation of the community cultural construction. This paper is divided into fourchapters. The main methods made use of in this paper include literature review,questionnaire survey, interview, field observation and case study.The current situation of square dance development in Chongqing is provided as astudy object in the introduction part. The study of regional square dance which has onlya few related researches will be put forward in this paper according to the nationalpolicy in favor of the construction of community culture and the accumulated theory ofthe mass culture and the culture of the mass dance. In Chapter Two, the mass culture,the concept, characteristic and function of the mass dance culture is briefly introduced.Moreover, a comparison between the mass dance and the professional dance will bemade in the following chapter. The specific study of Chongqing square dance is startedunder the background above. Chapter Three, the characteristic of Bayu culture in Chongqing is taken for an example. The present situation and the characteristics ofChongqing city square dance have been investigated and analyzed to manifest thereason why the square dance in Chongqing is ahead of other cities in China. Theanalysis of the representative form of dance is also presented in this chapter. In ChapterFour，the social value of the square dance in Chongqing is put forward. What’s more,several problems existing in the development of the mass dance of Chongqing aresummarized and solutions are given. Eventually, the future development trend will beanalyzed and prospected. The section of conclusion summaries the importance of publicdancing to establishment of community culture. The concretized research on localsquare dancing will elevate the social status and management system of public dancingand eventually, become facilitating and illuminating.
