As the highest peak of Chinese classic novel, Hong Lou Meng, also named as The Story of theStone. It was an autobiographical fiction that wrote by Cao Xueqin who lived in late Qing dynastyaccording to his life experiences. The main clue about this book was the tragedy love relationshipsbetween Jia Baoyu, Lin Daiyu and Xue Baochai. The language in this novel was so vernacular thatit has described the life of common people at that time keenly and genuinely. This book waspraised as an encyclopedia of Chinese feudal society.This translation report was based on excerpts of Hong Lou Meng chapter3&17. In this report,the author has put the principle of culture image translation into translation practices and thenanalyzed them briefly.This report was consisted of five parts. The first part was the introduction. It mainly containsthe background of the translated version, the purpose and significance of selecting this subject,and the definition of culture image. The second part was about the researching background ofculture image translatability and its limitations. The third part was about translation methods thetranslator has applied on culture image translation. The forth part was about the analysis oftranslatability of several culture images and their limitations. The fifth part was about theexperience and lessons the translator got from her practice and the unsolved problems as well asadvices to later researchers.
