Every nation in the world does not exist in isolately, instead, it has different degreesand forms of connection with other nations in respect of politics, economy, culture, geographical environment and so on, with which the relationship between nations developsand deepens increasingly. Therefore, various forms of contact, such as trade, culturalcommunication, immigration and wars between people who speak two kinds of language orhave their own dialect will cause the contact in language. After that the party with relativelyweaker language power will be impacted by the stronger, which is mostly reflected in thesituation that the weaker tends to borrow new words from the stronger in order to enrich thepower of daily expression of their mother tongue. With the improvement of society, theloanwords and the mother tongue mix and develop together. The borrowing of languagecontains two respects. The first one is language structure, including voice, grammar, vocabulary, semantics, which is impacted by the inner factors of language. The second one islanguage function, which is affected by the external social factors including politics, economy, culture, population, national psychology and national relationship. Likewise, the developmentof Yi language, except for its own factors, will be affected by Chinese which is the stronger.Yi language must follow the road of borrowing vocabulary from Chinese to enrich the powerof daily expression and standardizing the new borrowed vocabulary and terms to ensure itsstandardization, as a result, it can have a sound development. This paper selects Chinesevocabulary found in Ma Mu Re Er which is directed by professor Qingchun Luo and collectsthe works written by authors of the Yi nationality as the Chinese modern loanwords in the useof Yi language and the vocabulary found in the historical epic, Le E Te Yi and instructionalepic, Ma Mu Te Yi as the Chinese inchoate loanwords. Meanwhile, except for the vocabularyin Ma Mu Re Er, it also collects some Chinese modern loanwords which are widely used. Thispaper selects some certain Chinese loanwords as the research focus, introducing theirhistorical background, describing and analyzing whether phonetics and original meaning changes when they are borrowed into Yi language, and discussing their practical significancein the use of Yi language.
