As a matter of fact, the popularity of speaking English is an important reflection ofglobalization, which means that the language of English has broken up the limitation ofregion and is used by more and more people. However, it is also universally admitted thatdifferent people in different countries speak and write different English, which may be causedby culture. Being a sort of discourse form, news language shares basic qualities of accuracyand clarity, but there are still linguistic differences between non-native English business newsand native English business news due to the different cultural backgrounds the writers shared,which attracts less attention in academic field.The study is attempting to examine the cultural transfer in English business news byhaving a contrastive rhetorical study about differences and similarities between Englishbusiness news in Chinese websites and in American websites. The data used in this studyconsists of60pieces of English business news collected from Chinese websites andAmerican websites respectively. The study is a qualitative research with quantitative researchby offering statistical supporting so as to make the argument of the thesis more convincing.By text analysis, the research data is analyzed at syntactic, paragraph and text level, and therelevant statistics is collected and analyzed by AntConc and SPSS software. As a result ofdetailed analysis, it is found that there is cultural transfer occurred in the English businessnews in Chinese websites and the author offers possible understandings of such transfer. It ishoped that such contrastive analysis in cultural transfer can be helpful to cultivate otherbusiness English learners’ cultural awareness in their process of language learning. Thus, theycan make a progress in their business English writing.
