The Seventh-day Adventist is characteristic of eschatology,Second Advent andSabbath. Its development in modern China coincided with wars and famines, as wellas sufferings and hopes of the Chinese people. War, Suffering, and Redemption werecore themes definitely. The spreading of eschatology and seeking for Second Adventwere based on the Signs of the Times. From World WarⅠto World War Ⅱ, as wellas the Great Depression during1929-1933, China was connected with the world bothpolitically and religiously. Thus it provided a rich source for Signs of the Times, andan opportunity to develop it. The Adventist missionaries and indigenious believers inChina responded to this situation both universally and contextually, sharing a generalvision of Signs of the Times. In addition, the Seventh-day Adventist focused onChinese social problems, and actively participated in social activities such aseducation and health care, which is in contradiction to its evangelical orientationgenerally. However, the authentic aim of Seventh-day Adventist is to train and selectbelievers to prepare for Christ’s coming. Based on the its organ in Chinese-Signs ofthe Times, this article attempts to construct a Chinese version of eschatology as ananswer to the international and local contexts.
