After one thousand years,The world-famous Chinese painting has beena mount of great evolution and inheritance. Today, it has a long historyin the traditional form of profusion: one side is rigorous inheritanceof ink tradition; the other side is after the founding of the Chinese,the humanistic thought, the value orientation, the aesthetic taste havea huge change, after the collision with the western fine art, modernChinese painting showed the unprecedented prosperity.The study on the development of the modern Chinese water ink portrait,from the moment of creation scene,try to understand its developmentorientation, further significance lies in the research context of modernculture and nationality. A new branch of modern Chinese water ink portrait,bone—free ink portrait. The painting and works of this kind of paintersemerge in endlessly, through years of development, the genre has graduallybecome mature. The bone—free water ink portrait has been exist for a longtime, but the expression of portrait is reflected through the creationof modern Chinese painting. This paper tries to analyze the new genre ofChinese ink portrait--bone—free water ink portrait, do some researchabout its historical origin, modern aesthetic characteristics andaesthetic value.
