In the21st century, China has achieved great development in economy, politicalsystems and policies. Law plays a more and more prominent role in building aharmonious socialist society. Therefore, the justice and fairness of Chinese law are ofgreat significance for our country’s economy, politics, society and culture. Nevertheless,much importance is attached to civil laws and criminal laws home and abroad rather thanother kinds such as agricultural laws. China is a large agricultural country and agriculturehas always been the foundation of China’s national economy. The improvement ofagricultural laws makes great a contribution to guaranteeing the development of ourcountry’s agricultural industry, transferring the new agriculture and protecting thelegitimate rights and interests of farmers. Therefore, strengthening the communication ofagricultural laws with other countries and studying the development of internationalagricultural laws are essential and will have a positive effect on the maturity of Chineseagricultural laws. In general, the translation of agricultural laws, either in theories orpractices, is not rich, which is not conducive to maintaining the preciseness of the lawsand the further study of the relevant laws abroad. As a result, it is of vital importance tostudy the translation in this area.The source text comes from Food Agriculture Conservation and Trade Act of1990of The National Agricultural Law Center. This translation report analyzes the currentsituation of the translation of agricultural laws and discusses in detail the translationskills applied in the translation process such as literal translation, free translation,sentence structure adjustment and cultural vacancy so as to offer some useful referencesfor relevant translation studies and practices.
