A writer will solidify himself in a restricted historical context for some special reasons. It will formulate a profound anxiety without any measure and can be define the writer withthe concept of marking era. In this sense, Yang Xianhui is a typical contemporary writer whodoesn’t live in the present. For such a writer who seldom expresses himself, it is difficult fora researcher to describe his writing situation in an amateur state. However, the usage ofcollecting materials, interview and recording these words shows a close relationship betweenYang and his propaganda works. This sort of experience of interview to collect material alsoshows that Yang Xianhui’s writing have internal relations more or less with contemporaryChina novels patterns.Yang Xianhui’s narrative is extremely obvious regionalism, for the author often turnsback to his homeland—Gansu. Therefore, the stories he writes are all around this mysteriousland. His works, such as Dingxi orphanage, Jiabiangou labor camp and Gannan Grasslandare fabulous or perhaps there will be another topic in the future. In Chinese contemporarynovels history, this land always originates with magical, mysterious event. Nevertheless, inYang Xianhui’s view, people living in this land and the living condition in the past is stillneglected for modern society. Thus, the works of Yang Xianhui reject the magic and mysterydiscourse, search for the essence of the land and find out the real living truth of people whoborn and live in the land for generations through his love for such marvelous land.
