With the development of globalization and integration of worldeconomy, the business activities among countries are getting more andmore frequent and the business interaction among countries is also gettingcloser and closer. In order to fulfill the need of economic development,talents are in great need, therefore, a great many universities and collegeshave set up business English major and its relevant courses. But due totime shortage and lace of experience, problems have appeared inevitably.One of the most obvious problems is that there is not abundant culturalteaching in the business English teaching, especially the teaching ofinter-cultural business communication, which leads to the consequencethat students’ inter-cultural business communication competence is notvalued enough. Although in the traditional business English teaching, thecultural difference in language has been mentioned repeatedly, however,it still focuses on the teaching of business knowledge and language, thusignoring the teaching of cultural issues during the process, which hasresulted in many failures in business interaction.Based on theories of communication, IC, IBC and ESP etc and takingXISU for an example, the thesis has carried out an experimental researchon the current situation of BET in XISU and its IBC CompetenceDevelopment Program; meanwhile, the thesis has also carried out aqualitative research by using questionnaire and interview on64students from2012thBE major in XISU and four teachers from BE ResearchFaculty, aiming to obtain relevant information on IBC courses. Throughthe above study, the thesis has acquired relevant conclusions anddiscussed the current problems of IBC development that exist in the BETin the fundamental courses for the undergraduate college students. As tothese problems, the thesis has provided some creative strategies on howto change and improve the situation. In the end, the thesis has made aconclusion on the major findings of the study, offered some generalsuggestions and elaborated on the limitations of the thesis.
