Gene therapy has made great achievement in30years since boarding the stage ofhuman history in the1970s. Gene therapy brings new hope to get healthy forhereditary disease patients, which is of great significance to human survival anddevelopment. However, gene therapy has advantages and disadvantages as well inthe process of development, whose benefits also make some ethical issuesunavoidable for human society.The thesis considers three kinds of the benefit conflict, as technologydevelopment and conflict of interest about patient safety in the field of gene therapyand conflict of unequal treatment and economic conflicts of interest and the rights offuture generations. This paper analysis the ethics of gene therapy on the interest ofpeople, it is the breakthrough of the ethical argument over gene therapy, essentiallygrasping the causes of the formation of moral dilemma, and then making ethicalargument on the benefit conflict based on the principles of ethics, to achieve thepurpose of guiding practice with theory and the purpose of testing theory withpractice.Based on relationship characteristics among stakeholders, who has the benefitconflict in the field of gene therapy. This article chooses the utilitarian argument as atheoretical base and put forward three basic principles: meeting people’s basic needs,protecting human autonomy and the value of human life and human dignity beingrespected. Technology development and conflict of interest about patient safety inthe field of gene therapy and conflict of unequal treatment and economic conflicts ofinterest and the rights of future generations are based on the three basic principles,changing depending on the forms of the related theoretical situation, then analyzingall kinds of the benefit conflict and reconciling the contradictions, reflecting thereasonableness of the utilitarian theory in specific scenarios, and thus testing theappropriateness of regulating the conduct with this ethical theory.Utilitarian principles in the field of gene therapy is reasonable, it can basically reconcile the contradictions between different stakeholders on interest and controlthem within a safer range. However, any systems of ethical theories have limitations,there is no universal principle, and conclusions obtained from different areas aremostly tentative.
