As one of the twentieth century’s most important composers of Western, Ligeti has undoubtedly received extensive attention; his unique and bold creative thinking and ideas influenced the entire modern music world. From his multi-tonal music creation which distinguishes sharply from Bartok’s use of folk songs, to his "atmosphere" composed in his middle period, until his late works using "regression and integration", every step of his success is worthy of our careful study.The reason for choosing his "Violin Concerto" as the research object is based on the fact that this work, composed in his last period, contains his early, middle as well as late composing techniques, and the regression and integration as his creative ideas. In this work, Ligeti pursues a sonority both clear and obscure, a combination of vertical and horizontal development of a self-regulatory structure, as well as traditional techniques, such as motivic development, variations,"Passacaglia and a series of other means of formal structure.In the introduction of this thesis the author introduces significance of Ligeti and his works, and the introduction of his "Violin Concerto", as well as the significance of the topic, the state of research, research methods, and in the body of this thesis, each movement is discussed in accordance with their sequence of appearance:The fisrt, Movement "Overture". Based on core interval and its derived materials, this movement develops in accordance with its internal structure, and the use of each material is parsed.The second, movement, Aria, Hoquetus, Choral":the author takes the thematic integration, melody reorganization and variation development as analysis objects, trying to offer further understanding on the use of traditional compositional devices.Third movement,"Intermezzo":the author grasps the foreground, middle ground and background as three levels to parse their respective major features.The fourth movement,"Passacaglia":the author summarizes the new features of its variations to extract its essence The fifth movement Finale," Appassionato":the author consolidates the materials and sompositional devices used in previous movements, analyzes the Retrospect and Prospect feature of the concise structure of the work, which fully embodies the "regression and integration".Conclusion summarizes the compositional techniques presented in this late works of Ligeti Violin Concerto.Based on the data collection made by the author, we can see the analysis and parsing on this later work "Violin Concerto" is not yet detailed, so besides personal interest, this is one of the reasons the author selects this work for her study.
