The historical consciousness and the unique style of art in Wolfe’s works emerged in the perspective of new historicism theory, and as a whole his Four novels can be another interpretation.Thomas Wolfe is a famous southern writer in modern American and a representative writer in southern Renaissance. As the southern writer’s ideas during this period, his four novels Look Homeward, Angel, The Time And the River, The Web And the Rock, You Can’t Go Home Again express a contradictory southern emotion. On the one hand, he longs for the past tradition of the south, On the other hand he exposes the evil of the old southern slavery and racism. Finally,the author overturns the historical image of the old south,and reconstruct a new south. This narrative visual Angle just Confirm the literature theory of new historicism. New historicism support the plural, accidental and open new historical perception, emphasize the texuality of the histories and the historicity of texts,and claim that literature has subversive and inclusive ideological function. In the perspective of new historicism theory, southern society collapse, Southerners changed,the blacks and the poor whites marginalized. The technique of art is Autobiographical writing style, the structure of emotional currents, narrative characteristics of uncertainty and the combination of regionalism and timeliness, etc. Wolfe’s novel creation based on his hometown and the writing has local characteristics,which has a certain reference to study the native writing of Chinese writers.
