Nowadays, the globalization stimulates the international contacts and communication. That also means more frequent intercultural communication between different countries. In cultivating intercultural communication talents, college English teaching may be the first and most important undertaker.Since the reform and opening, high education of China has been recovered and back on track step by step. And college English teaching in universities has gone through three phases in development, including the process of normalization, regularization and melioration, to go with and meet the needs of society and times. But in fact, college English teaching still has problems such as time consuming and low efficiency, especially the difficulty in intercultural communicators cultivation. While College English Curriculum Requirements (2007), as the synopsis file for college English education of China, clearly defines the goal of cultivating qualified personnel for intercultural communication.Now most of the research on intercultural communication and college English teaching are from the view of their own disciplines. In this thesis, the research on college English teaching model is from the intercultural communication perspective。 Based on the key concepts and theories related to intercultural communication and college English teaching, with the study and analysis of the status quo of college English teaching, and the questionnaire survey and interview conducted in the two key universities of China in Hefei city, the thesis puts forward the conceptions and theoretical framework of a new model, the model of college English teaching for intercultural communication, which may be the reference for both the college English teaching reform and development and the modification and perfection of college English teaching model.
