Children’s literature shares same characteristics with other literature genres, but it alsohas its own features. Compared with other genres, there’s not much study of Children’sliterature. In China, the study about Children’s literature has been regarded as “pediatric”.The following three reasons may explain why it gets this nickname: First, less emphasishas been placed on children’s literature; Second, there is a poor understanding of thetreasury of children’s literature and academic study which are on behalf of the westernchildren’s literature. Third, we have a short history of children’s literature. Hence, theprogress in the translation of Children’s literature is very slow. In China, May Fourthmovement can be regarded as a turning point. Before this movement, the translation ofChildren’s literature was much ignored; After that, a group of translators called for moreattention to the translation of Children’s literature. In the western world, recently, there ismore and more translation of Children’s literature. This report mainly discusses how toretranslate Anderson’s fairy tale The Snow Queen drawing on Skopos theory. Also, acomparison is made between Ye Junjian and author.This report includes four parts. The first part mainly introduces the current studyabout children’s literature. The second part mainly introduces the features about translatingchildren’s literature as well as Skopos theory. The third part is a case study on translationapproaches through a comparative analysis. The last part is a summary of our ideas aboutthis report and its significance.
