The middle-aged students with social status have been a main part in those Chinese elementary courses at most of the Confucius Institute in Korea. Therefore, it is necessary to find out some solutions to set up efficient and relevant classes for this kind of students and choose reasonable teaching methods for them.According to one year’s observation and interview in some elementary lessons in Confucius Institute at Dongseo University, this article gives out study of the characteristics of middle-aged students and projects a one-term instructional design correspondingly. This teaching design has been put into the real classes and testified. During the classes, certain investigation such as the classroom test, teacher’s introspection, interview questionnaire has also been carried out to collect feedbacks in different aspects. Constituted by six chapters of this thesis, as outlined below:Chapter I is the introduction. It includes the explanation of backgrounds, the value of this research and it also gives out literature review. The main achievement as well as those shortages in this research field is pointed out so that research direction of this article is confirmed.Chapter Ⅱis the analysis of characteristics and demands of middle-aged students. It comes out with a conclusion of characteristic of thought, reason of anxiety, learning motivation and style and so on.Chapter Ⅲ is an one-term Chinese curriculum design. It states the syllabus, teaching strategy and designs of classroom activities and points out methods such as picking up teaching language cautiously, designing reasonable and logic activities and correcting errors politely.Chapter IV is a teaching plan. This part analyses the teaching material and shows the details of the corresponding teaching plan.Chapter V is the feedbacks and evaluations of the whole curriculum design. It evaluates the implement in real classes through the criterions such as learning effects and interview questionnaire and states the advantage and insufficient of this design, and it also gives out some improvements.ChapterVI is the epilogue. It states the advantage and insufficient of this article and points out the room for improvement.
