The thesis mainly discusses Zhuang Cunyu’s Gong Yong School, and comes to the conclusion, by focusing on the contents and characteristics of Zhuang Cunyu’s study in Gong Yong School, that Zhuang’s Gong Yong School plays an important role and has great influence in the process of the change of academic thoughts in Qing dynasty.The thesis is composed of three parts:introduction, main body and conclusion.The introduction presents the significance, research status and methodology of the thesis. It mainly expounds the research status quo of Zhuang Cunyu and his Gong Yong School, which is also the basis of the thesis.The main body involves four chapters. Chapter one examines Zhuang Cunyu’s life experience and family background, his writings and the origin of his thoughts for Confucian classics.Chapter two centers on Zhuang Cunyu’s writings on Gong Yong School, namely, Chun Qiu Zheng Ci, Chun Qiu Ju li, and Chun Qiu Yao Zhi. In the perspective of text reading, the thesis specifically and thoroughly discusses four main ideas of Zhuang’s Gong Yong School, that is, the theory of Da-Yi-Tong, Yi-Xia, Tong-San-Tong, and San-Shi.Chapter three induces and analyses the characteristics of Zhuang’s Gong Yong School from three aspects. It is considered that his work on Gong Yong is characterized by giving attention to the ancient classics of both schools of Han and Song and blowing up the conventions of social status and different schools, emphasizing on sublime words with deep meaning and innovating applications on reality; laying emphasis on the connotation and Chinese calligraphy.Chapter four analyses the influence and contemporary significance of Zhuang’s Gong Yong School, which considers him the pioneer of Gong Yong School in Qing dynasty. Zhuang and his Gong Yong School lead the new ethos of academic development in Qing dynasty and realize the reversion from Ancient Chinese prose of Confucian classics studies in the Eastern Han Dynasty to modern characters of Confucian classics studies in Western Han Dynasty.The conclusion is the summary of the thesis.
