In this thesis, we studied definite adverbs from different perspectives including“yiding”、“kengding”、“juedui”、“dique”、“queshi”、“shizai” and madeexplanations of from syntactic, pragmatic and text. This thesis includes five parts.Chapter One: Introducing the objective, purpose, significance and methods of theresearch, source of language material, studying scope, and theoretical backgrounds.Chapter Two: According to the difference in the tense、 person、 syntaxdistribution, we divided the definite adverbs into two classes:“yiding” words、“queding”words. First, analysising the difference of the feature the two kinds ofadverbs, and considering the different syntactic distribution of sentences expressed bythe degree of reliance. Second, Investigation the co-occurrence words with the“yiding” words、“queding”words and analyze the influence on the degree of reliance.Last, Describe the different choice of tense、person、syntax distribution and analyze itseffect on the degree of reliance.Chapter Three: Inspecting the pragmatic function of definite adverbs. Evidentialfunction. we divide evidential function into subjective and objective and analyze theeffect on the degree of reliance. Discourse cohesion function: According to syntaxdistribution, this part will analyze the function and form of discourse cohesion of“queding” words. Focus mark function: this part admit that definite adverbs havefocus marking function and analyses the reason. The preset trigger function: this partwe admit that definite adverbs can be used as a preset trigger, with functions ofpresupposition triggers, and analyzes its preset trigger way is primitive trigger.Chapter Fore: This chapter for exploring the definite adverbs in diachronicaspects.Chapter Five: We summed up the main opinion of the thesis and pointed out thedeficiency of this thesis.
